Bringing in the homely atmosphere to a new built home

The residents of a modern, eight-year-old new built home lacked a homely atmosphere. They wanted to have an open yet cozy interior. So they approched Shanaz Razik Interior Architect. They asked me to address the entire ground floor taking into account the existing elements.

Open en light interior

I listened to the wishes of the residents and designed a very light interior, both in form and in terms of colours. Wall hung furniture makes the room appear larger. Colors like gray and white, complemented by light blue and wood tones, create an open feeling. The residents also wanted more privacy between the entrance hall and the living room. I worked with a vertical line play with the aid of some custom made columns that provide a subtle separation.

Subtle integration of the TV

Another wish of the residents was to get a cozy living space without the focus being on the television. I integrated the TV in a wall hung cabinet behind a sliding door. So the TV is only visible in the room when viewed. I have also foreseen flexible seating such as poufs next to the dining table and a lounge chair in the reading corner. This enables the residents to use the living area flexibly for intimate conversations or large parties. Thus a completely new interior .
